The Dennis Williams Memorial Trophy for market officer of the y

THE NMTF’s Executive Board has decided on a fitting tribute to the memory of a late Past President — the Dennis Williams Memorial Trophy for market officer of the year.
Dennis, who died in November last year, was highly respected throughout the markets industry, and was a tower of strength to the federation’s Executive over many years.
He started out as a market trader nearly 60 years ago, but his skills also led to him managing the markets at Wootton Bassett and Highworth, both near his home town of Swindon, for more than 20 years.
It is therefore felt appropriate that the trophy named in his honour should go to the market officer deemed by traders to deserve recognition for his or her work.

Officers nominated need not be the market manager — superintendents, supervisors, inspectors — indeed anyone in a day-to-day managerial role can be nominated.
So do you know an officer who goes that extra mile, perhaps beyond the call of duty?
If so, all you have to do is tell us, in no more than 200 words, why you think that person deserves the honour.
A shortlist will be drawn up and the winner will be chosen by the federation’s National President Faye Quigley, President-Elect Julien Lewis and Honorary National Treasurer Allan Draper.
Entries can be sent via email to publicity@nmtf.co.uk or by post to the Publicity Department, National Market Traders Federation, Hampton House, Hawshaw Lane, Hoyland, Barnsley, S74 0HA.
Please do not forget to include, your name, the nominee’s name and title, the market on which he or she works and your contact details.
The deadline is March 31 2010.
The trophy will be presented to the winner at the federation’s annual conference, which takes place at Crewe Hall Hotel on April 20.
